My Pregnancy Cravings, Confessions, and the Timing of It All

It’s time to get real with you all and reveal some of the craziest times I’ve had during my pregnancy. Today I just wanted to take the time to share with you all my pregnancy cravings, confessions and the timing of it all.  Some things may sound totally normal but for me the timing of it all just has thrown me off completely.

You never know how being pregnant will affect you or how you will handle it. So, I hope you are all ready to hear some funny stuff. Keeping it light and a little personal today with this post, but I’m sure you will all enjoy it. Also, if you have anything you would like to share don’t hesitate, I would love to hear all about your experiences as well. Just leave me a comment below.

Cravings: McDonalds Cheeseburgers

Before I even knew I was pregnant I was constantly getting cravings for McDonalds. My husband thought this was super weird. He would ask me what I wanted for Dinner and I would say “I want a cheeseburger.” Josh always gave me a weird look because he knows I don’t like cheese. He also thought it was weird because I wasn’t craving just any cheeseburger. I always wanted McDonald’s Cheeseburgers, the ones you used to get in happy meals. We were not in the habit of eating fast food anymore, so this was a red flag for me. Sure, enough two weeks later I found out I was pregnant and then the craving persisted for a little while, but I made myself stop soon after. As delicious as McDonald’s cheeseburgers are…not the best diet to be on during pregnancy, but I do still indulge from time to time.

Confessions: I did not want to tell anyone that I was pregnant

After finding out I was pregnant, I had the instant urge to tell people, but this only lasted for about a week. Then for some reason, I didn’t want to tell anyone ever. I didn’t fully express this to my husband, but I think he knew. For some reason, I loved the fact that only him & I knew, and I was so happy with that. It’s strange because when you get pregnant usually you can’t wait to burst out with the news. Even at the 12-week mark where you can say something, I didn’t want anyone to know. But finally, by December we had told both families, and everyone was super excited. I realize now that I of course wouldn’t have been able to hide this all the way to the end.

Cravings: Peanut Butter M&M’s

Peanut Butter M&M’s are a craving that I have had off and on throughout my pregnancy. This is the only craving that never went away for me. Really anything with peanut butter, I absolutely love. For some reason Peanut Butter M&M’s were always on my mind. I work right next to a CVS so when I would go to buy a snack I would always end up coming back with a bag of peanut butter M&M’s. The reason I say this craving came and went is because I couldn’t eat them as often as I craved them. Sweets caused me severe heartburn in the first 6 months of my pregnancy and most days the heartburn was not worth it for me.

Confessions: My Nesting Stage is Intense

Nesting! This is no joke people! I would say that the nesting stage didn’t come for me until the last 8 weeks. I wasn’t nesting too hard until after Josh finished putting the baby furniture together. Then it was all down hill from there. From decorating to cleaning to organizing to baby laundry at 2AM. I mean I have done it all and Josh just laughs at me. I always ask him “what’s wrong with me?” he just looks at me and laughs and says “Babe, you’re nesting so hard right now.” That’s basically the gist of it.

I can vividly remember one Saturday that Josh was out of town, and I had just decided to start putting stuff together. This was all over the house, not just the baby’s room. When I had finished with everything that day, I had a huge pile of things to donate, 6 garbage bags just full of stuff to throw away, and the apartment looked like we were moving out. But I was incredibly happy, and I felt refreshed.

Cravings: Ice Cream

Ice Cream! I don’t know what else to say about this one just that in the last trimester I have wanted only ice cream for desert all the time. Cake, Cupcakes, Cookies, Brownies? Nope, just Ice Cream. My Favorites stayed the same Mint Chocolate Chip & Peanut Butter Cup. That’s about it.

Cravings & Confessions: Citrus Scented Cleaning Products/Midnight Bathroom Cleaning

I think this is the hardest craving/confession to reveal. It all started one night when I got up to use the restroom around 2AM. I finished using the restroom and I looked over at the bathtub and I thought “Hmmm this could use a good cleaning.” Without hesitation I pulled out my mop pail, and for the next hour and a half I cleaned the entire bathroom until it was sparkling. Then I washed my hands, used the restroom again (on my freshly cleaned toilet) and went back to bed.

Ever since then these midnight cleanings have become constant almost 2-3 times a week, and yes, my husband thinks I’m crazy. It’s amazing how fast I’ve gotten as well. However, with this weird obsession with the bathroom being clean came the worst craving. I now crave the smell of citrus cleaning products all day long. It’s the worst and I hope it goes away soon.

Cravings: Sparkling Water

Up until about 2 months ago, my husband can tell you that I absolutely hated sparkling water. My husband loves it, and when he would pick it up at the grocery store I would make a face because it was just gross to me. One day while he was on a trip I decided to try one of the Perrier bottles he had in the fridge. For some reason on this day it changed my mind completely. I now can’t go without sparkling water. However, I feel like a changed woman, this obsession I have with sparkling water is crazy, but I love it.

Confessions: Everything has Happened in the Last 8 Weeks

Last but not least, I find all of these things so interesting because about 80% of these things have all started in the last 2 months of my pregnancy. I’m not sure how long they will last afterwards. They may not last at all. However, everything has gotten much more intense for me in the last eight weeks. I feel like I am going a little crazy, but I am almost there. Hopefully most of this will go away and I can get back to normal eventually. But until then you can probably find me sipping on sparkling water and scrubbing down my bathtub at 2 AM at least every other night.

Thanks to all of you who are following along my pregnancy journey with me, and for taking the time to read all my craziness. Until Next Time.

XOXO Happy Girl.
