Every season we see trends and styles come and go. I’m sure many of you have fallen for a trend and purchased a few pieces that turned into regrets. I know I have. Sometimes I purchase clothing or accessories based on what’s popular that season. Other times I guide myself by what others are wearing and I forget that I am not like anyone else. I have my own body type, my own curves and not one style fits all. Staying up to date on what’s hot in the moment is great, but sometimes it’s not what’s right for me. Always remember, “Fashion comes and goes, but style is eternal”. I love going through a fashion magazine and seeing everything new that’s out there. However, I also like to put my own spin on it. So today I am going to share my five rules for Fall. Remember as you read this that your style is an expression of who you are so don’t be afraid to rock what you love this season. Do it your way and have fun with your style.
Break the Rules
Fashion rules were meant to be broken. If we all walked out of the house in the same outfit, what a boring world it would be. Fashions are here as a guide for us to go by every season. However, the way you style it and make it your own is up to you. So, don’t be afraid to try something different. Maybe a new silhouette, maybe an old silhouette in a new way. Try to mix-n-match things from last season and current season. If you have some spare time in your day, pull out a few things and try them on. You never know what you have in your closet that could renew your wardrobe. Don’t worry about following all the rules for the season. Have fun with your clothes.
Try Something New
Each season there is new styles out there and designers really work to update our wardrobes. I like to be current, so each season I will try a few new things. This season I have already made a list of the pieces I want to try. I’ve seen a few silhouettes that I think would work for my body and I’m excited to try them. I always recommend having a list when you go shopping for new clothes. Don’t be afraid to grab something off the rack if it catches your eye. If something pops out at you try it on. It may be exactly what you’re looking for.
Trends that Fit your Personal Style
Not all trends are one size fits all. Some of them shouldn’t be trends at all. Inevitably, if you want to have fun with your clothes, you will probably see new trends you want to try each season. I know I do. The trick is knowing how to style these trends in a way that fits your personal style. Let’s take a pair of ripped jeans as an example. Some people prefer a more casual style with tee and sandals. Others prefer a more glam style with heels and jewels. It’s all about putting your own spin on things. I’m excited to see how people will be styling outside the box this season. I feel like fashions are making there way back around and this makes me happy.
Keep it Comfy
Comfy and Cute was never something I aspired to. However, I recently went through a pregnancy and bought my first pair of comfy sneakers and they changed my life. The sneaker trend is huge right now and I am all for it. I could be wearing a dress, shorts, jeans, anything really, and my sneakers are the perfect combination for cute and comfy. Slides and mules are also huge right now and there are so many ways to style them. As we go into Fall I am noticing a huge bootie trend as well, and this will fall into the comfy category. I’m also big on pairing tees with fancier items in my wardrobe. This is another way I like to keep it comfy. I also will be toting around a little one for a while so comfy is key.
Don’t put yourself in a box. Yes, it’s Fall, and it’s a new season, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun. Try all these things and you will be sure to enjoy the Fall season in style. Just don’t break the bank!
