I can’t believe its been a week since my whole family was here, we celebrated Briana, and has a crazy busy weekend. It took me a week, but today I am sharing just a little glimpse into Briana’s first birthday. To begin I will say I can’t believe Briana is already a year old. Time flies, and I’m sure year two will go faster than the last. I really wanted to do something fun and colorful for Briana’s birthday. She has been attracted to pops of color since she was little. So, I thought why not have some Carnival Fun. Thanks to the help of my in-laws, my family and my husband we pulled everything together and had a fun time with family and friends.
The Theme: Carnival Fun
I really was just looking to have fun pops of color with a cute theme and throw in some Carnival Fun. The backdrop and the cake table were the parts that took the longest, but it was so worth it. Everything looked great. Of course, there was way too much food & candy left over, but we got that dispersed and taken care of. Most of the decorations I was able to find very affordable at Dollar Tree and Party City. Party City can get a little pricey, so check your local Dollar Tree, or Dollar General for most of your items first. There is also a helium shortage going on everywhere right now, so if you are having a party and need balloons… 1. Either go without or 2. Purchase a small helium tank. We had a difficult time trying to order balloons, but of course we only needed a few.
The Food: Kept It Simple
We kept the food simple. Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Mac & Cheese, Cole Slaw & Corn on the Cob. My mother-in-law also brought some amazing BBQ Pork sticks from our local Filipino store, and they were amazing. I think everyone had one too many burgers over that next weekend following the party, but they were delicious.
The Cake Smash
The cake smash was interesting. Briana got her fingers dirty, but she didn’t really try the cake at all. She wouldn’t even taste it off a spoon, but we did get to sing to her, and she was okay with that. We’re currently still working on food and textures so the cake kind of threw her off. However, she didn’t cry during the Happy Birthday song which I was happy about.
Fun with Family & Friends
The day was just complete because we had so many special people around us. It’s always great to have a small gathering with all your close friends & family. I was very lucky I got to have my mom and all my sisters come down to Miami along with my Grandma (Briana’s GG), Aunt & Cousin. Thanks to all of those who made it to the party. I don’t have many photos because I was running around like crazy, but I got a bunch from the fam. Enjoy!
For another fun party idea check out my Fiesta themed baby shower here. My sister-in-law did an awesome job with this theme. Also don’t forget to enter your email and subscribe and be the first to know what’s new!
